KHAFR Diversion Dam Project
KHAFR Diversion dam is located on Ghare- Aghaj river and is situated 120 Km south east of Shiraz and 80 Km north of jahrom. The project has been operational since 1377 (1999). The main purpose of the project is to improve and develop Khafr agricultural lands (farm lands and gardens) which has come to reality in the following manners:

Improvement of water diversion and conveyance system and enhancement of irrigation efficiency.

Compensation of ground water losses through artificially recharging the aquifer.

Detention of a portion of divertable flood in the aquifer.

Cross section characteristics : 2.94 Km concrete lined trapezoidal section (bottom width of 0.8 m and concrete deqth of 1.1 m) and 0.77 Km cut & cover reinforced concrete box section (internal dimensions of 1.5 m width and 1.7 m height)

Appurtenant structures : one elevated flume, two auto bridges, three turnouts and several run-off disposing structures.
c- Water Division System & Recharge Ponds

Terminal water division structure located at the end of the conveyance system, equipped with 6 slide gates for water rights delivery and diversion to the rechange ponds.

Recharge ponds consisting of two rows of 11 pools covering and effective area of 5 hectars at the bottom and effective depth of 3 meters.

Each pond is 30m wide and 75m long.

Total storage capacity of ponds is 186000 cubic meters.
