Izadkhast dam

Izadkhast Martyrs Dam’s Location:

   Izadkhast Martyrs dam is located 65 kilometers far from Abadeh city in Fars province and has been constructed on  Izadkhast river near Izadkhast village.

   Izadkhast river originates from the Morvarid mountain’s heights in northern part of Fars province. Passing Ghale Goory village and irrigating the lands this river will join Gavkhooni morass.

The project’s purpose:

To provide water for 1200 hectares of the downstream farmlands, 400 hectares of these lands are to be developed and the remaining to be improved.

The Dam’s characteristics:

- Type: earthfill with clay core

- Height: 37.5m from the bottom of the river

- Crest Length: 296m

- Crest Width: 10m

- Bottom Width: 313m

- Adjustable Water Volume: 15 million cubic meters per year

- Spillway: Concrete Ogee Spillway (40m long and 6m high)

- Overflow: 440m³/s

- Construction beginning:  April 4^th 1996

- Water Filling: Feb. 2001

- Putting into Operation: Feb. 2002

The Project’s Costs:

- Surveys and Construction: 60 billion Rials (approximately)

- Constructing the transition line (11.2 km): 15 billion Rials

- Total Cost: 75 billion Rials
